“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Romans 8:14)
The sons described here are not spiritual infants but believers who have learned to follow the Father’s voice. What sets them apart is not their gifts or titles but their leading. Mature sons are led by the Spirit of God.
The Holy Spirit was not given only for our meetings. He lives in us to guide us into truth, to bear witness that we are God’s children, and to empower us for life and service.
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” (John 16:13)
- Stay Filled
A believer who is filled with the Spirit walks in sensitivity and strength. Keep your heart open to Him through worship, prayer, and the Word.
“…be filled with the Spirit;” (Ephesians 5:18)
- Listen for His Witness
The Spirit leads through the inward witness: a deep peace, a gentle check, or a quiet knowing in your spirit. Learn to pay attention to what He is saying within.
“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:” (Romans 8:16)
- Walk in Step with Him
Being led is not a single experience; it is a daily walk. Take each step in agreement with Him.
“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:25)
- Guard His Presence
Bitterness, disobedience, and careless words grieve the Holy Spirit. Keep your heart tender and quick to repent.
“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” (Ephesians 4:30)
As you yield to Him, He will not only guide you; He will empower you to be a witness wherever He sends you.
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…” (Acts 1:8)
